Welcome to Hawksmoor Knightsbridge

Large? No. But glamorous? Hawksmoor Knightsbridge is a little different to its siblings. Art Deco interiors, lots of marble, brass and dark-leather banquettes, and an upmarket postcode just off Brompton Road. We think it makes the best steak and seafood restaurant in Knightsbridge, though we’ll let you be the judge of that.

We’re a few minutes from Harrods and Harvey Nichols, and Kensington’s cultural heavy hitters are close by too: the Victoria & Albert, the Natural History and Science Museums, and the Royal Albert Hall. Which makes us useful. A post-museum pick-me-up on our lunch and evening set menus. Somewhere proper to eat before the curtain goes up. A Sunday roast that’s twice been voted the best in the country. Or a Monday with a bottle from your own cellar, because £5 corkage all day is our idea of a good start to the week.

Start at the bar if you’ve got time. That first drink, the one before supper, piques your palate and sharpens your wits, and our martinis get the same fuss we apply to the beef. Order the fried oysters with one. They were invented in this restaurant on a hungover Sunday and have since turned up on Hawksmoor menus in other cities, which we think entitles Knightsbridge to a little smugness.

Come as you are and let Hawksmoor Knightsbridge be your dining sanctuary in West London. Book if you can, but we always keep a few seats for walk-ins.

Sunday Roast in Knightsbridge

We’ve won awards for ‘The Best Sunday Roast in the UK’ twice. That’s largely down to the ingredients. Our suppliers around the UK care about the impact their rearing, fishing and growing has on the environment, and they turn out produce that lights up our Sunday lunch service.

It’s a day of regulars. Families, groups of friends, people who’ve come to expect a cosy retreat and a comfortable seat. Choose the slow roast rump, or the thick sirloin you asked us for, cooked low and slow, rested properly and carved to sit proudly alongside the trimmings. If there are two or more of you, the Sunday Feast puts a sharing steak at the centre of the table and lets everyone get stuck in.

You asked for a proper veggie option too. Not the polite alternative, the real thing. So Sundays now come with our Winslade Wellington roast, wrapped in golden pastry and served with roast potatoes (no beef dripping, of course), seasonal veg, slow-roasted garlic, light and fluffy yorkies and onion gravy.

Every one of them arrives with all the trimmings, from crispy beef-dripping potatoes to Yorkshire puddings big enough to block out the sun.

If you’re after Sunday lunch in Knightsbridge, book ahead if you can. Sundays get very busy.

BYO Monday Wine Club

Everyone’s invited to our Bring Your Own Wine club, every Monday. Turn up with any bottle you like and we’ll only charge you a fiver corkage. Yes, any size bottle, any time of day. Nothing puts a smile on our face like someone walking in with a couple of magnums in their hands for a bit of Monday lunchtime madness.

If you like the idea but aren’t sure what to buy, we’re always very happy to offer suggestions ahead of time. Just mention when making your booking and we’ll have the wine manager drop you a line. Alternatively, our favourite local wine shop, Jeroboams, is just round the corner – they’re experts in marrying you with the perfect bottle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Hawksmoor Knightsbridge?

3 Yeomans Row, London SW3 2AL, tucked just off Brompton Road. Knightsbridge and South Kensington tube stations are both a short walk, and we're a few minutes from Harrods and Harvey Nichols.

Where can I park?

The nearest public car park is NCP Knightsbridge Green on Raphael Street, SW7 1DL, roughly a ten minute walk. Yeomans Row itself is a residential parking zone, so finding a space on the street is optimistic on a weekday. There's a Santander cycle station at Holy Trinity Brompton if you'd rather arrive on two wheels.

Is Hawksmoor Knightsbridge wheelchair accessible?

No, and we're sorry about it. Several steps lead into the restaurant and there's no step-free route in. If accessibility is a factor, our other London restaurants can look after you, and the team here are happy to talk through the options on 020 7590 9290.

What's the dress code?

Come as you are. Suit or jeans, we're not fussed, we just want you to enjoy your dinner.

Does Hawksmoor Knightsbridge do a set menu?

Yes. Knightsbridge is the only Hawksmoor serving an evening set menu seven nights a week, two or three courses for £26 or £30, every day from 5pm. Lunch is one, two or three courses at £21, £26 or £30, Friday and Saturday, 12pm to 3pm.

Do you have vegetarian and vegan options?

Yes, and not as an afterthought. The Winslade Wellington is wrapped in golden pastry and served with roast potatoes cooked without beef dripping, seasonal veg, slow-roasted garlic and onion gravy. It's probably one of the best vegetarian dishes we've ever made. There are vegan options on the main menu too, and the team will walk you through them.

Can I bring my own wine?

Every Monday, all day, any bottle size, £5 corkage. It's our BYO Wine Club. Jeroboams is a short walk away if you want to pick something up on the way. We love magnums too, just saying.

Do you serve Sunday roast, and what time?

Every Sunday, 11.30am to 5pm. We've twice been voted the best Sunday roast in the UK.

Do I need to book for Sunday lunch?

Book if you can. Sundays here are a day of regulars and they fill up.

Where can I eat before the Royal Albert Hall?

Hawksmoor Knightsbridge is a short walk away and our evening set menu starts at 5pm, seven days a week. Two courses for £26, three for £30, served at a pace that gets you to your seat before the lights go down.

Where can I eat near Harrods and Harvey Nichols?

We're a few minutes from both. Lunch runs Friday and Saturday from 12pm, and a main with a side is £21, which makes us a decent reward for a morning on Brompton Road.

Where can I eat near the V&A, the Natural History Museum or the Science Museum?

All three are within walking distance. Our lunch set menu runs from 12pm Friday and Saturday and is built for days when time's tight but your standards aren't, which describes most museum trips.

Is Hawksmoor Knightsbridge good for a birthday or anniversary?

It's what the room was made for. Art Deco interiors, marble, brass and dark-leather banquettes, low lighting and a team who are good at making a fuss without making a scene. Tell us what you're celebrating when you book and we'll do the rest.

Can I hire the restaurant for a private event?

Yes. Up to 130 guests for the full restaurant, or 70 for a semi-private hire. Two people for a booth-suited anniversary or 130 for a party, our eyes light up for all of it. Make an enquiry and someone will be in touch.

Do you take walk-ins?

Yes. We'd always suggest booking if you can, but we keep a few tables back for people who wander in.
