Hawksmoor in the Limelight
The reviews are in…
You may have heard that Hawksmoor New York has been a hit. Even The New York Times asked and answered: “Does New York need a British steakhouse? Yes, if it’s Hawksmoor.” Elsewhere, Eater declared it, “New York’s hottest steakhouse.” You can probably imagine how exciting (and cathartic) this has all been for us. All the hard work, all the waiting, and all the false dawns were worthwhile.
Recently, we’ve had more good news
Sixteen years after opening our first ragtag little restaurant in 2006, Hawksmoor has been receiving praise from critics here in the UK again. And we wanted to take a moment to thank you.
Of course, times have changed, but we’re still building restaurants we’re really proud of (these days they’re not kitted out in a £300 eBay raid). We still care about you enjoying great food and drink and being well looked after.
We care about the quality and richness of the lives of the people we work with, too. And, without wanting to sound too happy-clappy, about knowing that the company we run contributes positively to the world around us.
The Hawksmoor Wood Wharf launch…
- What is Hawksmoor’s enduring appeal?
- What more is there to say?
- Surely the restaurants’ quality must have diluted as they’ve grown?
Grace Dent called us “reassuringly special”. Marina O’Loughlin claimed she was “never not impressed”. Tim Hayward praised our “creative ideas, flawless execution, terrific delivery”. And, to top it off World’s Best Steaks has crowned us number 1 in their 2022 ranking of the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants “Hawksmoor Restaurant… in our opinion currently offers the best meat in the world.”
Really, it’s testament to the incredible people that work at Hawksmoor. To work so hard to understand and achieve the things we care about the most – that’s something special. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard for such a long time.
Growing up with Hawksmoor has been one of the great joys of our lives. Thanks for making it part of yours.
