The reports of London’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.
For 15 months the city in which we live has been a hollowed-out version of itself. If the pandemic has reminded us how much we love Hawksmoor and how much we love the restaurant industry, it has also reminded us how much we love London.
So, it is with considerable pride that, on the 15th anniversary of opening the first Hawksmoor restaurant, we’re announcing that this winter we will be opening a new restaurant and bar in a floating pavilion in the docks of Wood Wharf, a new part of Canary Wharf.
It will be our biggest and most ambitious space yet, spread over three levels with a 150-cover restaurant, a 120-cover bar and, most-excitingly, outdoor space for eating and drinking (a Hawksmoor first!).
Hawksmoor Wood Wharf will be housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion. Made from sustainably sourced timber decking and aluminium extracted from hydro sources, the fully floating pavilion will have a green roof planted with wildflowers and grasses, to encourage visits from insects and bees. It will be primarily powered by energy from Canary Wharf’s Combined Heat and Power network to help lower the impact on the environment. Continuing our commitment to sustainability and environmentally sound practices, which is such a big part of how we’re trying to continue to improve Hawksmoor over the coming years.
We are putting the pandemic and all that came with it behind us, and looking forward to a better future for our restaurants, the people who work in them, our suppliers and for London. We are dreaming up new dishes for the menu, hatching plans for a big bustling bar with a brand new cocktail list, and thinking about outdoor dining for the first time ever. We will soon be talking to the wonderful people who work here about promotions and opportunities. We’re thinking about how to throw the best, most exciting soft launch yet …
