Seven Dials

Our steak restaurant in Covent Garden, LONDON

11 Langley Street, London WC2H 9JG

What was once the old Watney-Combe brewery – then the largest brewer in London – is now our home on Seven Dials in Covent Garden. After a little digging into the brewery’s history, we found a meaty tradition to live up to: its first owner, Alderman Combe, once hosted an annual steak supper for London’s great and good. Of his gathering in 1807, a newspaper reported:

“At a late hour the company left the brewhouse, highly gratified with their beef-steaks, on which the Duchess of York was lavish in her praise and pleased with their worthy host’s hospitality.”

One day, we hope to be spoken about in the same way, but for now we’re content to count ourselves among the best steak and seafood restaurants in Covent Garden.

Daytime is particularly fun here at Hawksmoor Seven Dials, with excited shoppers taking a break for brunch, lunch or a cocktail or two. We also love being in the thick of the West End’s Theatreland, near Covent Garden and Tottenham Court Road tube stations. Our express menu is popular with pre and post-theatre diners, looking for good food either side of a fun night out.

A Very Merry Christmas

Christmas at Hawksmoor is a special experience. Not because of fancy decorations or turkey-led menus (we make a point of avoiding), but rather a focus on what we think really matters: great food, a comfortable environment and the sort of service that makes you feel like you’re at a best friend’s house for a slap-up dinner.

So whether it’s two-person do or an exclusive-use office Christmas party, our team will make sure you and yours are tended in a way that makes everything feel effortless and indulgent. Just like Christmas should be. And if you’re looking for a private dining room to celebrate the season then we’ll be happy to book something in at one of our other restaurants around London.

Hawksmoor Sunday Roast

Sunday Roast in Covent Garden

Available from 12-5PM every Sunday

Sundays at Hawksmoor… Regulars, with their friends and families, bring a homely atmosphere and our entire kitchen is engaged in creating all the elements of an award-winning Sunday roast. Be warned, though, it’s a hearty meal. Especially if you order a few of our indulgent sides. The cauliflower cheese is a particular favourite.

The Sunday feasting option (great for two or more people) sees our perfectly pink dry-aged rump camp replaced with a handsome sharing steak from the blackboard, cooked how you and yours like it. All that’s left is to add the trimmings: beef dripping roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, carrots, greens, roasted garlic, with lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy. We recommend booking, though: Sundays get very busy.

BYO Monday Wine Club

every monday, all day – £5 corkage

Mondays at Hawksmoor Seven Dials means one thing: bring your own wine. We like to think of it as a club – one where everyone’s invited – because there’s a particularly convivial vibe in the restaurant. The rules of the club? Bring any bottle you like – yes, even a jeroboam of Romanée-Conti – and we’ll ask for no more than a fiver corkage.
The offer runs all day long and when paired with our set menu can make for one heck of a Hawksmoor hack. So dust off that bottle you’ve been saving or buy one at the local wine shop – there’s a Majestic with super-friendly staff on Drury Lane – on the way and we’ll do the rest. Cheers.

BYO Mondays
Express Menu

Our Express menus

Available from 12-5PM every Sunday

Our set menu at Hawksmoor is a no-nonsense, high-reward affair. Swing by for a masterclass in how good food can be delivered on a timer and to a budget. Max out on flavour without the fuss, with the likes of our potted beef and bacon starter, followed by the rump steak with beef-fat fries as a main. It’s perfect for those who want to watch the time or their pennies.
The offer runs Monday to Saturday from 12 till 3pm for the lunch crowd. But also from 5 till 6.30pm and then 9pm for those seeking a good meal pre or post theatre. We’re surrounded by world-class performances after all. Pair this hack with our Monday wine club and it works out at £37 for a three-course dinner with (your) wine. We call that winning.

What makes our food so good?

Hawksmoor began as a labour of love to find the best beef and master the seemingly simple art of cooking steak. That hasn’t changed, but we are now committed to integrity as much as we are to excellence. Becoming a B Corp in 2022 was a milestone in our ongoing journey to becoming a Net Zero business.

It also highlighted our commitment to the well-being of our teams. It’s our long-standing opinion that if we take care of them, there’s a decent chance they’ll do the same with you. It all points to the same simple goal: being Covent Garden’s best steak and seafood restaurant. But we’ll let you be the judge of that.
