Our steak restaurant near Borough market, london bridge
16 Winchester Walk, London SE1 9AQ
A short walk from London Bridge, on the edge of one of the UK’s foremost food markets, Hawksmoor Borough is a buzzing place, serving some of the best steak and seafood in London. The restaurant itself is in a former hops warehouse and auction hall, which lends a unique character among the top steak restaurants in Borough.
It’s very close to London Bridge station, and the River Thames is just behind us for those keen on a post-meal saunter. Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe are also nearby. For the latter, our express menu might come in handy, where two/three courses are £29/£33. If time’s on your side, ask about a feast in our private dining room, where the team will take good care of you.

“…of course I order a steak. Obviously. It’s a gorgeous piece of meat, aged for 35 days, perfectly seared medium rare, tender but with real bite. It floods the palate with sheer mineral, grass and hay-fed beefiness.”
Marina O’Loughlin, The Sunday Times Magazine
A Very Merry Christmas
We like to do Christmas a little differently at Hawksmoor. Less of the tinsel and turkey set menus; more of the good food, laidback service and subtle nods to the season. You might spot a tree in the corner or a fundraising mince pie, but otherwise, it’s a cliché-free zone, serving up exceptional steaks, seafood, and a few seasonal sides.
The priority is focusing on making you and your family, friends, or colleagues feel properly looked after. Like hosting at home, but without the cooking, cleaning or chaos. Book early if you can – things get busy around here.
Sunday Roast by the River Thames
Available from 12-5PM every Sunday
Sundays at Hawksmoor… For many of us here, it’s our favourite day. Expect lots of regulars, with their friends and families, bringing a homely atmosphere in tow. They come for our Sunday roast, which has twice won Best Sunday Lunch in the UK.
First, we cook a whole rump cap of 35-day dry-aged beef super slowly. It’s then sliced and served alongside our trimmings: crispy beef-dripping potatoes, buttered greens, roasted carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings – all ready to be doused in our bone-marrow and onion gravy. So, if you’re looking for Sunday lunch near London Bridge, we recommend booking, though: Sundays get very busy.
Private dining & events in Borough
Downstairs is the Cooks’ Room, which is comfortably one of the best private dining rooms in London. Why? It comes with its own private kitchen and chef’s table for immersive private dining experiences (ask about our Beef Feasting Menu, exclusive to Borough) with chefs cooking in front of up to 22 people.
Upstairs, there’s also our semi-private Hop House space, attached to the main restaurant and – very usefully – right next to the bar. This curtained-off area is a little bigger than our basement Cooks’ Room and you get a bit of restaurant buzz from our dining room. We love hosting exclusive-use bookings for up to 160 people, too. Click on our brochure for all the facts.
BYO Monday Wine Club
every monday, all day – £5 corkage
On Mondays, we love our BYO Wine Club. Dust off that bottle you’ve been saving or buy one at the local wine shop on the way, and we’ll only charge you £5 corkage. That’s any size, any time of day. Come on, who’s got a magnum collecting dust under the stairs?
If you’re not sure what to buy, drop us a line ahead of time and ask one of our wine team what they suggest. Pair that with our express menu (Monday to Saturday until 5.30pm and after 8.45pm – and Sunday after 5pm) and you can bag a three-course meal with wine for £37. Monday madness.
Our Express Menu
The spotlight may be on our sharing steaks and indulgent sides, but did you know we also have an express menu? It’s perfect for those with tickets to the Bridge Theatre or Unicorn Theatre who want a quick pre-theatre bite before the show, or for anyone looking for a satisfying lunch near London Bridge and the Thames.
Whatever you’re up to, our express menu – 2 or 3 courses for £29/£33 – brings you the same quality Hawksmoor experience, just faster and friendlier on the wallet. And if you haven’t tried our Monday Wine Club, bring your own bottle for only £5 corkage. Pair it with the express menu, and you’ve got yourself one heck of a deal.
What makes our food so good?
We pride ourselves on serving the best steak and seafood, sourcing from suppliers from around the UK who share our principles in sustainability and animal welfare. Happy, native-breed cows, raised on a diet of grass and fresh air, produce the best-tasting steak. The formula is as simple as that.
We’re also committed to the well-being of our staff. It’s our (tried and tested) credo that if we take care of them, there’s a decent chance they’ll do the same with you. It all points to the same simple goal: being Borough’s best steak and seafood restaurant. But we’ll let you be the judge of that.
