Royal Birkdale is one of the greatest golf courses, so the least it deserves is to be followed by one of the greatest steakhouses. Between 12th and 19th July The Open comes to Southport, and Liverpool becomes the natural base for anyone who’s serious about their golf and their evening in equal measure. 

When the final putt drops, you want oysters, ice-cold martini’s and a sharing cut of dry-aged beef that earns its place. That’s what we do, and we’ve been doing it properly for a while now. 

Our à la carte menu runs the full distance: fresh oysters, steaks sourced from farms we actually know by name, a wine list with genuine depth and cocktails which take several days to make. Come for one. Stay for all of it. 

Bringing a group? Our Private Dining Room seats up to 18, with space to celebrate, eat well and keep the whole party together. No dividing up across a busy restaurant floor, no compromises on the menu.

British beef, properly done

The à la carte menu is where Hawksmoor does what it does best: exceptional British beef, sustainable seafood, proper sides, serious wine and puddings worth making room for. 

Our steaks come from grass-fed, traditionally reared cattle from small farms around the country, dry-aged for 35 days to build flavour and tenderness. It is British beef treated with the time, care and respect it deserves – then cooked simply over charcoal. 

Alongside the steaks, expect the full Hawksmoor treatment: seasonal starters, seafood from around the British coast, generous sides and legendary desserts (especially our Sticky Toffee Pudding).

The venue

Hawksmoor Liverpool is set within the Grade II-listed India Buildings, just an olive’s throw from Castle Street and moments from the waterfront. It is grand without being stiff, with Art Deco details, a proper bar and a dining room built for everything from quick lunches to late night dinners.  

For anyone staying in Liverpool during The Open, it is an easy place to gather after a day at Royal Birkdale, close to the city’s hotels, stations and bars, but with enough occasion to make dinner feel like part of the trip.

For larger parties

Bringing the full group? The New Yorker Room, our private dining room, seats up to 18 guests around one large table, with space to celebrate properly and keep everyone together. 

Menus are designed for sharing and built around Hawksmoor classics, with steaks cooked to order and served family-style alongside our much-loved sides and sauces. Desserts arrive in the same spirit – generous, celebratory and best shared with people who won’t judge you for going back in. 

For bigger groups, Hawksmoor Liverpool also offers semi-private dining for up to 70 guests and full restaurant hire for up to 140. Arrival drinks can start in the bar, dinner can run at its own pace, and our team will take care of the details — from wine pairings and cocktails to vegetarian, vegan and dietary requirements. 

No splitting the group across a busy restaurant floor. No watered-down menus. Just a proper Hawksmoor evening, with everyone at the table.
