Our steak restaurant in liverpool’s India Buildings

India Buildings, 8 Brunswick St, Liverpool L2 0PL

The Grade II-listed India Buildings are a special place to call home and an apt setting for the best steak restaurant in Liverpool. Our interiors draw from the grand optimism of the Roaring Twenties, blending original fittings sitting alongside sourced antiques from the same era. Nowhere is this more obvious than our bar, where Art Deco fixtures set a glamorous tone.

The use of reclaimed materials continues throughout the restaurant, with mirror inserts on the walls, warm timber floors and brass and wood-topped tables reclaimed from chemistry labs. Also keep an eye out for the brass-trimmed ceiling lights, once streetlights from 1920s Paris. In all, it makes for a lovely spot to enjoy great steaks and seafood.

We’re an olive’s throw from buzzing Castle Street, on the corner of Brunswick and Fenwick Street, and a minute’s walk from Moorfields and James Street train stations. The Maritime Museum and Royal Albert Dock are just a hop-and-a-skip away, too.

Liverpool Restaurant Week at Hawksmoor

2 courses & a cocktail for £25, Saturday 18th – Sunday 26th April

Join us from Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th April for a menu built around the things Hawksmoor is best known for: dry-aged British beef from native-breed, grass-fed cattle, sustainably sourced seafood and seasonal produce from suppliers we trust.

It’s the sort of menu that fits around real plans. Long lunches that turn into something more, pre-theatre dinners that don’t feel rushed, or a mid-week reset that feels like a proper treat. Expect Hawksmoor favourites like

*Available Monday- Thursday all day & Friday- Saturday 12pm-5:45pm. Maximum of 6 people. Quote ‘Liverpool Restaurant Week’ when booking a table

Longhorn is Back at Hawksmoor

Longhorn beef holds a special place in our story. It is the rare native breed that helped shape Hawksmoor nearly twenty years ago. Slow-grown cattle raised properly producing beautifully rich beef with remarkable depth of flavour.

You will now find Longhorn on the menu as our Longhorn Feast. Generous sharing cuts of dry-aged beef cooked over live charcoal and served with roasted bone marrow and slow-cooked onions.

Longhorn is a rare breed so the amount we receive each day is small. Once those steaks are gone they are gone.

Sunday Roast, Upgraded

You asked for new cuts on the Sunday Roast. We happily obliged. Swap your rump for a thick, slow-roasted sirloin, cooked low and slow, rested properly, and carved to sit proudly alongside the trimmings you know and love.

And we heard the call for proper veggie options, not the polite alternative, the real deal. Sundays are now complete with our Winslade Wellington roast, wrapped in golden pastry and served with roast potatoes (without beef dripping, of course), seasonal veg, slow-roasted garlic, light and fluffy yorkies and onion gravy.

New Desserts This Spring

available now

Spring months call for four new seasonal desserts, and what a line-up our Queen of Puddings, Carla, has created: a twist on the classic Bakewell tart, a long-overdue Banoffee pudding, an iconic Rhubarb and Custard duo, and a chocolate Mille Feuille that refuses to behave.

You could share. But we wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t.

Steak After Eight

introducing our new late night set menu

Steak After Eight is Hawksmoor after dark — where the lights dip, the martinis are cold and the night is just getting started. From 8pm every night, enjoy a generous three-course set menu built for lingering: indulgent starters, a Chateaubriand to share with classic sides and a proper pudding to finish, plus a cocktail and wine to seal the deal. All for £75 per person.

Perfect for dates, late dinners and evenings that refuse to end early.

A plate of medium rare steak, chips and a salad.

Hawksmoor Experiences

new in our gift shop!

Some people don’t need more “things.” They need a good time — the sort that starts with a killer Martini, ends with a sticky toffee pudding, and has a perfectly cooked steak somewhere in the middle. Hawksmoor Experiences make gifting wonderfully easy: a way to give someone you love a night (or day) they’ll actually remember.

For birthdays, anniversaries, “thank yous”, “sorrys”, “cheer ups” and “just because it’s Christmas”, Hawksmoor Experiences deliver brilliant food, lovely people, and a very good time. The kind of gift you’ll secretly wish someone gave you.

Sunday Roast in Liverpool

Available from 12-5PM every Sunday

Our award-winning Sunday roasts have always been a Hawksmoor staple here at our Liverpool restaurant. We love how returning families and groups of friends create a homely environment around the restaurant.

On the plate, you’ll find perfectly pink slices of dry-aged rump, first cooked on charcoal and then super slowly in the oven. Alternatively, groups can choose to feast on a range of handsome sharing steaks. Either is then served with our much-loved trimmings: beef-dripping roast potatoes, buttered greens, carrots and a gigantic Yorkshire pudding – all ready to be doused in our bone-marrow gravy. If you’re looking for a great Sunday lunch, book early; we get busy.

Events & private dining in Liverpool

Groups have a blast in our 18-seat New Yorker Room, whose decor celebrates old links between Liverpool and New York, along with the building’s architect, Herbert Rowse. Brass fixtures and parquet flooring steep private dinners in yesteryear glamour, while a striking long table adds a dash of atmosphere to family celebrations, milestone dinners or an off-the-record business meetings.

There’s more fun to be had in our ritzy bar, which can be hired for 30 guests on a semi-private basis. Or you can hold court for 165 guests and organise an exclusive-use party. We’ll have the cocktails, canapés, bowl food and seamless service to make you, the organiser, look good. How does that sound?

BYO Monday Wine Club

every monday, all day – £5 corkage

Everyone’s invited to our BYO Monday Wine Club and the concept is simple: bring any bottle you like – yep, even that champagne you’ve been saving – and we’ll only charge you £5 corkage. That’s any size bottle, any time of day. Guests sometimes even bring 3-litre Jeroboam-sized bottles, which we’re always excited to see.

If you’re keen for a little advice on what might suit your steak or seafood dish, drop us a line ahead of time and ask one of our sommeliers what they suggest. The friendly team at R & H Fine Wines are a safe bet for good suggestions, too. And their wine shop is only a few minutes’ walk away.

Rare breeds at Hawksmoor

Rare Breeds at Hawksmoor

We’ve partnered with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) to launch a UK-first programme championing rare and native breed farmers and the incredible beef they produce.

By investing in these breeds, we’re helping to protect them. Supporting the farmers, the countryside, and a way of farming we’re deeply proud to stand behind.

Look out for our rare and native breed steaks on our blackboards – every weekend in all Hawksmoor restaurants.

What makes our food so good?

At Hawksmoor, purpose is at the heart of everything we do. Our ambitions – from serving the world’s best steak and seafood to expanding into our favourite cities around the world – are rooted in building a company everyone can feel proud of: you, our guests, our team members and the local charities we support.

That means working with farmers, fishermen, growers and artisans who share our commitment to sustainability and animal welfare. Besides providing us with the grass-fed beef, super-fresh seafood and wonderful organic produce that lights up our menus, they’ve helped us to maintain a 3-star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association for over a decade.
