Fry-days at Beef & Liberty

Every Friday from 5pm

By the time Friday rolls around, you deserve something cold, crisp and a little bit indulgent.

So here’s the deal: every Friday after 5pm, order a Sub-Zero Martini or Dukes Martini at our Beef & Liberty bar, and we’ll bring you a portion of our beef dripping fries on the house.

Not just any fries, either. Golden, properly crisp and cooked in beef dripping — or “chips”, as our UK lot insist on calling them. Chicago Mag named them the second-best fries in the city, which we are taking with great dignity. Mostly. It just gives us something to aim at next year.

The martinis are exactly as they should be: ice-cold, beautifully made and not messed about with. The Sub-Zero is served at a temperature that makes small talk briefly unnecessary. The Dukes is strong, elegant and very much not here to waste your time.

Together, they make a very good argument for starting the weekend at the bar.

No catch, no fuss. Just a chilled glass, a heaping plate of fries and the satisfying feeling that Friday is finally behaving itself. Rally the crew, slide onto a bar stool and let us take it from there.

Cold martinis. Hot fries. A proper start to the weekend.

When: Every Friday after 5pm
Where: Beef & Liberty bar at Hawksmoor Chicago
Offer: Order a Sub-Zero or Dukes Martini and get beef dripping fries on the house
Best for: After-work drinks, starting the weekend properly, martini people, fry people, and anyone who has earned both.

Fancy making a night of it?

Very sensible.

The steaks are on the grill, the bar is fully awake, and a Sour Cherry Negroni has a habit of turning “just one” into dinner.

Settle in for dry-aged beef cooked over live fire, a few proper sides and something sweet to finish. Our recommendation? The sticky toffee pudding. It is not subtle, not shy and absolutely not worth sharing unless you are feeling unusually generous.
